Think Mythically

"You will not think clearly about your life until you think mythically. Until you see with the eyes of your heart. "

Finances

As I have mentioned, this process can cost in excess of $30,000.  Then, there is the cost of hosting her again over Christmas...

Once Olga is home, there are cloths, books, furniture and other personal items to consider.

Although this is far beyond our financial reach, we have faith that God will provide.

If you are led to stand with us financially, please click the DONATE button on this page.

Although donations towards the adoption expenses are not tax deductible, we believe God has unique blessings for those with giving hearts.

We thank God that you are even reading this.  We pray that he leads you to stand with us prayerfull and, if possible, financially.

An Amazing Woman

Ok, so I haven’t posted much to the blog. Not because I don’t have much to say, I do... It’s because I really wanted any new comers to see my initial posts.

It is important to understand how and where this all began and the support (both in prayer and finances) this is needed.

So, if you are new to this blog, please read through the first few posts…

Also, please take a look at Susan’s blog as well - http://www.adoptingolga.blogspot.com/

All I can say right now is “Thank you God for Susan.” Really, she has been amazing..!

Navigating what she termed a ‘Paper Jungle’ is no small feat. It seems like there are a zillion different forms and agencies and they all want very similar things (several sets of finger prints, multiple copies of birth certificates, marriage licenses, etc.) all going different places at different times… I have no idea how she is keeping it all straight. Actually, I am praying that she is, in fact, keeping it all straight.

I know that this is unbelievably stressful for her…

If you are led to do so, please keep her in your prayers -

‘Lord, I pray your calming hand on Susan’s shoulder today and throughout this process. I pray that you guide our path. That You break down any and all barriers in front of us. Protect us from the enemy; from all distraction. I bring myself and my entire family; Susan, Rhys, Maddox and Olga, under your authority and covering. Amen.’

Please Stand With Us

As I mentioned below, this process is a long one.  It will require patience and, unfortunately, a lot of money.

Here is where you can help -

The hosting program over the summer cost us about $2500 (plus the cost of doctors, dentists, clothing, etc.).  All in, this was around $5000.

Adoptions will run us just short of $30,000...  This is a tremendous financial burden on us.  We simply do not have this kind of money...

But, like I said below, there is NOTHING I would not do to bring Olga home.  If I thought there was any equity in our home, I would sell it today...

We have two specific finacial needs that we ask your prayers for -
  • The adoption costs
  • The cost to host Olga again over Christmas as we continue our path towards adoption.
If you are lead to give, I will not stop you.  I pray God will lead your heart where He would have you involved.

If not, we are blessed by you reading this and asked that you please forward this link to EVERYONE you know...  The more people that are in prayer, the better...

To donate towards hosting Olga over Christmas, please visit Active Giving at this link Adopting Olga

If you or someone you know is led to help stand by us financially for the adoption,  please contact me directly at jpirkey@channelforce.com or jeff.pirkey@rocketmail.com.

God bless and thank you for reading...

OLGA

So, here is the story –

Earlier this year, my wife Susan and I were led to open our home in order to host a young lady from the Ukraine named Olga.

This was not a ‘foreign exchange student’ program. This is a program run by a Christian organization for the hosting or orphans from Eastern Europe call New Horizons for Children.

My family has the privilege of hosting Olga, a beautiful 15 year old girl from the Ukraine for five weeks. She is an absolute joy. We are so blessed to have gotten to know her…

In fact, during the time Olga was here, God moved in our lives in ways that we never expected.

When we began this journey, neither Susan nor I had any real desire or inclination to adopt.

However, God had other plans…

Olga truly became a part of our family – A daughter to Susan and me and a big sister to Rhys and Maddox. The bond that was formed between us was completely unexpected and nothing less than magical. She is truly a part of our family.

Adopting Olga was less of a decision for us then a forgone conclusion. She is a member of this family and we are now completely focused on bringing her home to our family forever…

Personally, I view it this way – if Rhys or Maddox were trapped in some foreign country, there is nothing I would not do to get them back. Nothing I would not sell, nothing I would not give up. I would go to war to get them back…

What would you do to rescue a loved one..?

Getting Olga home is no less important, no less urgent for me…

Now comes the tedious part – the mountains of paper work and mountains of money that it takes to move forward. We are well on our way with the paper work; although it seems to be endless…

Please keep us, and Olga, in your prayers…
